Hi,
I’m Marie Louise!
Non conformist, multi-faceted late-bloomer
As a self-taught artist and mother of four daughters, my journey has been rich with diverse experiences that have shaped my creative path. With a background as a philosopher specializing in bioethics and care ethics, and over a decade as a certified health coach, I have always felt a deep connection to others and the world around me, driven by a desire to contribute positively.
In 2021, I rekindled my childhood dream of creating art, writing inspiring words, and helping others feel seen and safe, even in uncertain times. I have lived in three countries (including China), moved fifteen times, and raised my daughters to be bilingual and spirited.
Mindfulness has been a transformative force in my life for the past 15 years, and I weave this philosophy into my art, encouraging gentle creativity, lightness of heart, and practical awareness.
My philosophy
Kindness
Foundational, Fierce, and Uncomplicated
I believe in the basic goodness of all human beings. This is not naïve optimism—it’s a conscious, courageous choice to trust in our shared humanity, even in difficult times.
In my work, this belief becomes a practice: I hold space for others with gentleness, inclusion, and non-judgment. Kindness isn’t just softness; it’s also clarity, boundaries, inclusiveness and the deep intention to do no harm.
Integrity
Truthfulness as a Compass
Integrity means alignment—between what I say, what I do, and what I stand for.
I’m honest about what I know and transparent about what I don’t. I don’t perform certainty or pretend to be more than I am.
To me, integrity is the ground on which trust, dialogue, and fairness can grow. It’s not just personal—it’s the foundation of a just world, where communication is possible, and where exchanges—of words, of ideas, of value—can be truly meaningful.
Interconnection
We are not separate
To me, everything is relationship—between people, ideas, bodies, ecosystems.
This belief shapes how I understand responsibility, how I define success, and how I try to contribute.
I don’t believe in thriving at the expense of others. I believe in choosing paths that regenerate, reconnect, and root us in what truly matters.
Creativity
The Thread That Weaves Everything Together
Creativity is more than art. It’s a way of thinking, feeling, questioning, and making sense of the world. I see it as our birthright and a powerful force for healing, meaning, and change.
Training our creativity allows us to step back, shift perspective, and access innovative thinking. It helps us imagine new possibilities, navigate complexity, and craft meaningful solutions.
Irreverence
Wit, wonder, and the wisdom of not knowing
I believe in good humour as a way to stay sane and a bit wild.
I’m skeptical of dogmas, allergic to rigid systems, and deeply committed to asking better questions rather than pretending to have all the answers.
Laughter, doubt, and the willingness to say “maybe” have often shown me more truth than certainty ever could.
Intention
The Space That Anchors Us
Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
— Viktor E. Frankl
I return to this quote often. It reminds me that we are not at the mercy of circumstances. Intention is what fills that space—it’s the conscious thread between our inner world and our actions.
Living with intention means I strive to act in alignment with my values, not out of habit or fear. It asks for presence, for pause, for the courage to take responsibility for how I move through the world.
To me, that’s what freedom really is—not doing whatever we want, but knowing why we do it.
Life these days
Currently, I am working on several projects:
A collection of watercolor and gouache artwork focused on finding softness in and around us.
A stationery collection featuring my artwork, including notebooks, greeting cards, calendars, and other delightful items to enchant daily life.
A visual poetry project on womanhood and its seasons, exploring feminine energy, legacy, my mixed-race ancestry and my complicated ties to colonialism.
A Substack publication called "Weaving The Strands," where I explore the power of creativity, the intricacies of life and the beauty of nature
Several mindfulness programs but shhhh, I’m still in the ideation phase about those!
Through my art and writing, I aim to inspire and uplift, creating a sense of connection and serenity in a chaotic world.
Whenever I can, I escape into nature — it’s where I catch my breath, find inspiration, and solace. If I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me drawing in a café, wandering the streets admiring architecture, or at home, doing the mom life dance.
I spend a lot of time exploring and experimenting with art in as many forms and media as possible. I love trying new things and will probably never settle into one art style — and that’s just fine with me.
When I’m not sipping tea and journaling, I’m reading, doing yoga, cuddling my rescue beagle Arwen until we both sigh in bliss, or tending to my green babies. My houseplants bring me so much joy — sometimes I feel like they’re part of the family.
I have an unreasonable love for journals, washi tape, tarot cards, books, and mala necklaces… though I’m slowly becoming wiser about it all.
My mindfulness practice has been a steady companion through 15 years of personal healing. I show up for it every day — and I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned.
